Plain and simple, here’s how and why they work:
- Glass straws don’t leach toxins into your food as you drink.
- Each time you use your glass straw equals one less plastic straw ending up in your landfill.
- One glass straw replaces thousands of plastic straws. (How many times will you use a straw the rest of your life?)
- Using your glass drinking straw adds a feeling of beauty to your day.
GlassDharma glass drinking straws are:

Company Details: GlassDharma was started by David Leonhardt, a lampworker (glassblower) with over 10 years experience. While doing some work for a local glass shop in town he noticed that the owner had glass drinking straws for sale and was intrigued. He immediately recognized that here was a partial solution to our “plastics problem”.
Now, granted, there are a lot more plastics in our world than just drinking straws, but based on his research, McDonald's alone uses about 50 million straws EACH day. That's just from one fast food restaurant, on one day. Expand that to all other restaurants - that's a lot of straws and a lot of plastic. His goal is to get 2% of the US population to switch to glass straws - that's about 6 million people which adds up to a mountain of plastic removed from our waste stream.
