* Ellaroo is converting the Mei Tais to a new style. The new style does not have the head rest flap so the body is similar to that of the Mei Hip. Currently we have the Mango Mahogany and London in the new style. The Mumbai Natural, Mumbai Black, Good n' Plenty, Helsinki, Pismo, Simplicity Black, and simplicity Natural are the older style (with the headrest).
The Ellaroo Mei Tai is a versatile, sturdy, all-around baby carrier that can be worn on front, back, and side. Because the shoulder and waist straps are tied on however you like, the pack can be easily shared between parents of very different sizes. All color choices are reversible to solid organic canvas. Ellaroo is converting all their Mei Tai fabric to 100% organic, with recycled polyester batting, but currently still have some patterns (Mumbai Natural, Mumbai Black, and Good n' Plenty) that are only 90% organic.
The fabric, batting, embellishing, and sewing are made/done in India. The cotton fiber is from all over: Turkey, India, and Texas. The cotton and fiber are certified organic by Oeko-Tex, the fabric processing adheres to the organic standards put in place by Organic Exchange, and the sewing facilites are audited for social responsibility by SGS.
Ellaroo products used to be made in the US with US fabrics but due to multiple closures of US organic cotton mills they had to decide between organic and US made. Once the fabric was sourced oversees, they move the production closer to the fabric source.
